The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ Sedan benefits from no slack cut, following in the trailblazing footsteps of the Jaguar I-Pace ...

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ Sedan cannot claim to be the first. And being first is kind of a big deal. Whether you’re first to conquer a new territory or first to market with a new product, being first gives you the upper hand. When you’re first, like the Jaguar I-Pace for electric vehicles in South Africa, you define the playing field.

So, just like the technology that powers the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ Sedan, it turns out being first is not the be-all and end-all. In fact, it takes self-belief and real force of will to stay the course and truly believe you can improve upon something that’s come before … often in the face of hostility and criticism. However, from where I’m sitting, which is in front of the plush dashboard and steering wheel of thein total silence with fierce low-speed pick up.

Topped-off, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ Sedan proceeded to impress just as the maker intended. That’s to say, in everyday driving commuter driving where it takes care of almost everything for you with adaptive cruise control and active lane-keeping steering. As a result, the electric Merc is a wonderful, quiet and relaxing commuter vehicle. As quick as it can be, the 350+ is brilliantly calibrated when you drive in Efficiency mode.

Driver connection from the helm is a standout feature, too. Many electric vehicles – and I’m lucky to have tested a lot of them, including the Audi E-tron range and Porsche Taycans over the years – can feel pretty pedestrian. Therefore, the best praise I can give the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ Sedan is that it drove just as you’d expect a Merc to drive. There’s an admittedly heavy feeling to how it goes down a road, but don’t underestimate that deliberately sleek body work.
