ODNR officer Austin Snyder, 25, is charge with two counts of felonious assault, reports say.
Snyder’s parents called the Union Township Police Department saying their son was outside the house, drunk and “tearing everything up outside.”
While Snyder’s father was still on the phone with a dispatcher, Snyder managed to break into the house and went to a room where firearms were stored, reports say. The parents went to their room and locked the door, but Snyder managed to break in and shot his mother, 51, in the shoulder and father, 53, in the wrist, WEWS reports.
Snyder’s 22-year-old sister also was in the home at the time but was not injured, reports say. When officers arrived, they found Snyder standing in the driveway and he was arrested without incident. WEWS reports Snyder worked at East Fork State Park as a Parks and Watercraft officer for ODNR. An ODNR spokesperson tells WXIX that Snyder will not be allowed to return to work during the investigation into the shooting.
