Ten months after leaving Eskom, its former chief operating officer Jan Oberholzer is leading the charge at prominent independent power producer Mulilo, which plans to invest $3 billion in local solar and wind generation as well as battery storage.
But whether there is load shedding or not, South Africa urgently needs a large amount of new, renewable generation capacity, he says.
