'Trump wants full credit for the economy he inherited and zero blame for the pandemic he ignored,' former president Barack Obama said Saturday.
Obama painted a scathing portrait of Trump's four years in office, accusing him of overseeing the destruction of 100,000 small businesses and having"completely screwed up" the U.S. pandemic response in an embarrassing failure of leadership.
Obama reiterated that Trump won't acknowledge that he"pretended like coronavirus didn't exist" while telling the American people to drink bleach as a remedy."These next 10 days will matter for decades to come," Obama continued."If you bring Florida home, this thing is over." Obama urged Florida residents to get out and vote early and before Election Day itself.
The former White House occupant won the state of Florida twice during both of his presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012. He stressed that a Biden presidency would allow the federal government to get the pandemic under control instead of"floating conspiracy theories" to cover up failures. "I've sat in the Oval Office with both of the men who are running for president and they are very different people. You know, Donald Trump, I knew he wasn't going to embrace my vision, I knew he wasn't going to continue my policies, but I did hope that for the country's sake he would have shown at least a little bit of interest in taking the job seriously. That's not how it worked out.
