Nobody came to help her

London and Blackpool train station management have apologised when a pensioner was left feeling too terrified to travel after falling and smashing her face on a platform after requested assistance failed to turn up.

She says the train manager of the Avanti service ended up helping her off the train with her suitcase. As she made her way inside the train station, Deborah fell, causing her to hit her head on the concrete.Deborah was left laid on the platform 'bleeding profusely' from her head. The train manager took her back on to the train and bandaged her head up. He offered to call her an ambulance but as it was the day of ambulance strikes, she said she was happy to make her own way to hospital.

"All the staff at Blackpool North said when I came to go through the ticket barrier bleeding was 'do you have your ticket'. They didn't ask if I was alright, they didn't take any of my details for an incident report. They just wanted to see my ticket to come through the barrier. "I'm now having headaches every day, and when I do try and go to sleep, I'm waking up with nightmares about getting back on the train. I was so shaken. I was scared that no-one would find me and I was going to end up stuck on the platform bleeding," she said.
