The Oak Fire was sparked just after 2 p.m. near the community of Midpines on Friday and is over 6,500 acres as of Saturday morning.

An evacuation center was initially set up at New Life Christian Church, but the dangerously fast spread of the flames forced officials to close it down. Two new evacuation centers have been set up by the Red Cross - at Mariposa Elementary School and Sierra Foothill Charter School. All the residents and responders who were at the New Life Christian Church have been relocated to the elementary school. Evacuees are being given safe shelter, water, meals and more resources.Sierra Foothill Charter School, 4952 School House Rd, Cathey's Valley CA 95306Small animals are being housed at the Mariposa Elementary School.
