As a manhunt continues following at least two mass shootings in Lewiston Wednesday night, numerous Maine schools will be closed on Thursday.
Police say they are searching for 40-year-old Robert Card of Bowdoin. He is a person of interest in connection with the mass shootings at Schemengees Bar & Grille and Just-in-Time Recreation, which is better known by its former name, Sparetime Recreation, according to police. Lewiston Superintendent Jake Langlais issued a statement Wednesday night saying that schools will be closed Thursday.Auburn schools say they will be closed as well.Brunswick schools are closed Thursday due to the shelter-in-place and ongoing search for Card.
All South Portland schools are closed due to the tragic incidents in Lewiston and the ongoing investigation.Numerous other Maine schools and businesses are closed on Thursday as a result of the shootings.
