May 6 elections feature numerous city, school district contests in northern Brazoria County

In Alvin ISD, Position 6 incumbent Earl Humbird, a retiree who is president of the school board, is running against Craig Kettler, a teacher in the district.In Pearland, Mayor Kevin Cole is unopposed as he seeks his second term in office. Following Councilman Woody Owens’ decision not to seek another term, Antonio Johnson, who is vice president of people engagement for Cantex, and local business owner Rushi Patel are running for Position 7.
In a race for Position 3 on Manvel's city council, the candidates are retiree Harry Opliger, Norman Desormeaux, a safety director, and Pete Iznaga, a Realtor and business owner. Seeking Position 5 are Jason Albert, a paramedic, and Crystal Sarmiento, an author and business owner.
