The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is exploring ways to make payments for students’ accommodation more cost-effective.NSFAS Administrator Freeman Nomvalo says, “The disbursement and payment process of student accommodation is very costly.

“The information was not being reconciled on a regular basis and the accumulation worsened the complexity.” To address these issues, NSFAS announced measures to ensure resolutions. “We’ve added additional capacity as we reported yesterday. And there’s been some progress made. We have made good progress on about 39 to 40 of the institutions. And we are hoping to speed up that process going forward with the additional capacity,” added Nomvalo.
