Nsfas receives first money allocation from Treasury
In a statement on Tuesday, Nsfas spokesperson Kagisho Mamabolo said that by Friday the scheme would be able to start processing payments to institutions and paying student allowances.An official communication has been sent to all institutions on the allowance payment process.
The communique from Nsfas, he said, “further requests institutions to abide by the funding rules set out in the nsfas eligibility criteria and conditions for financial aid when disbursing funding to students”. The scheme had not made any payments to institutions for the students’ allowances. Mamabolo denied claims that this was due to a fault in the system.
