NSFAS is no longer accepting affidavits as supporting documents during the application process. Here's why and what you can do about it.

These are all verifiable documents for NSFAS which will be accepted instead of affidavits. NSFAS says it has decided to shift away from allowing affidavits in order to make a system that is more difficult to defraud or game in anyway. NSFAS, and by extension the South African government has lost millions of Rand in the past due to fraud, and granting bursaries to students who did not actually deserve them. Fraud as well as serious maladministration of funding at the scheme saw NSFASAs NSFAS tightens the ship ahead of the 2025 academic year, and following a disastrous 2024 and 2023 before it, the scheme will still require many changes before South Africans can be assured that it is running as intended.
