NPA to prioritise Life Esidimeni tragedy prosecutions
Protests during the testimony of former Gauteng health MEC Qedani Mahlangu at the Life Esidimeni arbitration hearings on 22 January 2018 in Johannesburg.This landmark case underscores a crucial message of accountability, emphasising that public officials and politicians are not above the law when it comes to their duties.
According to the judgement, the duo is responsible for the deaths of Virginia Macaphela, Terence Chaba, Lucky Maseko, Josiah Daniels, Charity Ratsotso, Deborah Phehla, Matlakala Elizabeth Motsohae and Koketso Mogoerane.
