Trying to demonize Poilievre as a “populist” or as Canada’s Trump, or implying that he is a white supremacist or opposed to women’s rights is unlikely to succeed. He is pro-choice, pro-immigration and has forcefully denounced white replacement theory and all of “that kind of thinking.” His attacks are directed towards the current government and institutions like the Bank of Canada.
Poilievre’s apparent willingness to bring policy proposals that reflect certain populist conjecturings, specifically about the World Economic Forum, is one habit we hope is left on the campaign trail.
