WINDSOR, N.S. — One of Windsor’s iconic downtown eateries is turning 20 this month and the owners are thanking their customers with a celebration featuring throwback prices.
“People come from far and wide, all over the world as a matter of fact, to come to the Spitfire,” she said. Rick and Debbie Dunham have owned the Spitfire Arms Alehouse since 2011. They can often be seen at the restaurant, chatting with customers and staff and enjoying the atmosphere. They own other businesses in town, including the Clockmaker's Inn and Hole in the Wall restaurant. - Carole Morris-UnderhillFormer Falmouth resident Frank Robertson has been coming to the Spitfire for about 15 years.
Since the Dunhams took over ownership, the pub has grown and expanded and has welcomed people from Europe, the United States and across Canada. On March 12, 2016, in grandiose fashion, the Dunhams held a community celebration as the Spitfire Arms Alehouse reopened in its original location. Gerrish and Water streets were blocked off as the owners, led by the town crier, and about 100 patrons, marched from the temporary location to 29 Water St.
