Parents Jason Ehler and Ashley Brown chat during a break in the police review hearings on Monday.TRURO, N.S. — The Nova Scotia Police Review Board is hearing an appeal this week on a complaint submitted by Jason Ehler, father of missing child Dylan Ehler, on how the Truro Police Service has handled the case.
In his testimony, Ehler argued police did not have search dogs on the scene until 3 p.m. on May 6. The call that Dylan was missing was answered by Truro Police Service at 1:24 p.m. that day, according to documents provided by the Truro Police Service. He took issue with the fact that no criminal investigation had been started. He said during the initial investigation on May 6, people were able to come and go on the street with little to no issue.
The service’s legal counsel noted that within the first four days, Truro Police Service was working in conjunction with several outside services to help in the investigation.
