2022 Youth Ambassadors Program eager to put leadership skills to work
Skyler Merrin, pictured seated, fifth person from the left, was the only Atlantic Canadian to be selected to participate in the 2022 Youth Ambassadors Program that travelled to Brattleboro, Vt.; Louisville, Ky.; and Washington, D.C.; as well as Ottawa, Ont.; for a three-week leadership camp.WINDSOR, N.S. — A Nova Scotia teen, who was one of 13 Canadian youth ambassadors this summer, is feeling inspired to help others after returning from the three-week summer excursion.
Most notably, participants saw first-hand what was happening behind the scenes to tackle various societal issues — everything from gun violence to homelessness. They also toured the Catholic Charities Common Earth Gardens, which Skyler said was important for refugees in the area. Skyler said the biggest takeaway for them was being able to have a greater understanding of the needs of various communities and cultures.
