But other sites do appear to be faring better
A Nottinghamshire recycling bank has been pictured overflowing with waste as people dispose of rubbish accumulated over the festive period. Changes to normal bin collection days and a much larger amount of cardboard and paper than usual makes recycling at Christmas a challenge for households across the country.
Nottinghamshire County Council is responsible for 12 recycling centres which are open every day of the year, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Veolia, which is response for operating these centres, says 30% more waste is produced at Christmas than at any other time of the year. The company has created a recycling advent calendar with 24 tips on producing less waste. But one Nottinghamshire recycling bank has been pictured overflowing with rubbish. The bank is situated in the car park of Morrisons in Gamston. A picture taken on December 27 showed items including large cardboard boxes and plastic trays being stacked outside of it.
Many other recycling points across Nottinghamshire appeared to be coping better with the extra demand though. People can check the details of their local recycling centre here.
