Juliet Campbell, the newly elected Labour MP for Broxtowe, has clarified that a £500 donation designated as 'for clothes' was actually used to support her mental health and wellbeing during the election campaign.
A Nottinghamshire MP has explained that a £500 gift described as being "for clothes" was not just used on clothing but rather for "personal things that were personal at that time".
It comes amid weeks of controversy over the amount of gifts and hospitality accepted by Sir Keir Starmer and his top team since taking office. Causing particular anger among some was a clothing rental agreement with a high-end designer favoured by Lady Victoria Starmer. The Broxtowe MP said: "It was for personal things that were personal at that time to support the mental health and wellbeing of women during the campaign. This is not post-election, this was something I had to submit, but there has been nothing since the election."
