Wollaton Park and Hall has been named as the most popular attraction across the whole of the East Midlands. Visit England's annual survey revealed there were 697,908 visitors - more than double the second on the list, Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, which attracted 263,622 people.
The region's top 20 free tourist spots in 2023 featured three others in Nottinghamshire. The Royal Lancers & Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum in Newark received 32,484 visits, while 23,805 people took a tour of Green's Windmill and Science Centre, in Sneinton. Bassetlaw Museum in Retford had 12,844 walk through the doors.
The top 20 most popular paid-for attractions had Chatsworth House in Derbyshire in the number one spot with 604,624 visitors. Nottingham Castle ranked eighth with 147,487 tourists paying a visit.3.
