The UK's weather service has gone haywire today with a warning of 'Hurricane force winds' of up to 14408mph but luckily, BBC weather says, this isn't the case
If you checked the BBC weather app or website this morning you may have done a double take. Earlier today they were predicting winds of 13,794mph for the Nottingham area, which seems like a number that's been plucked straight out of a disaster movie
However, BBC weatherman Simon King was quick to reassure viewers, stating: "Oops, don't be alarmed by some of our @bbcweather app data this morning." He continued: "Be assured there won't be 14408mph winds, hurricane force winds or overnight temperatures of 404°C. It is being looked at and hopefully sorted asap."
The BBC weather team added: "You may have noticed some data issues on our app and website. We are working hard to fix it quickly. Sorry - please bear with us." Viewer David Edwards queried: "@bbcweather @thetimes @guardian @BBC are we really going to have a #Hurricane in the UK today #HurricaneWarning any location on your website for the UK...
Northamptonshire weather also chimed in, saying: "If you're checking the @bbcweather app or website this morning and think there's a hurricane on the way then, as a legendary forecaster once said, 'don't worry, there isn't'."
