The reopening date for Nottingham Castle is set to be announced later this month
after the trust previously running it collapsed. The Nottingham Castle Trust confirmed on November 21 that it had started the process of entering liquidation, having operated the venue on behalf of Nottingham City Council.
Whilst I cannot give you a definite date today, I can assure you that work is taking place at pace and I will be in a position to make further public announcements, including on when the Castle will reopen its doors, later this month." But Councillor Andrew Rule, who leads the Conservative Group at the city council, asked whether the castle trust failure was an example of the authority "losing control of its investments." Councillor Rule highlighted previous issues around Robin Hood Energy, saying the cost of the castle trust failure was a "drop in the Trent" compared to the failed energy company.
