His mother stands with seven pages of notes, and urges crowds to realise he is"more than a victim of a senseless murder". She goes on to say the 19-year-old loved Nottingham, and thanks his cricket teammates for all they have done to remember him. Speaking about the killer behind the attacks, she says they are"evil" and"monstrous" but encourages people to"hold no hate that relates to any colour, sex or religion". 18:28:43The sons of Ian Coates are now speaking to the crowds in Nottingham city centre.

Gurcharan Manku, who is representing the city's Sikh community, says the attacks are"truly incomprehensible". "We reach out with our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of all those affected by the events on Tuesday," he says. Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, who both played the sport, were two of the three people stabbed to death during the incident.

The city's police and crime commissioner has taken to the podium next, and begins by saying Nottingham has been"shocked by this tragic incident". Sending a message to the public, she urges them to"have faith" in the"fantastic" police force and"remain patient" as they continue their investigation. Addressing crowds, he says Nottingham is a city of"vibrant communities, hopefulness and faith" and a place where people"stand together to confront challenges" and"grow stronger through them".
