Notre Dame's defense has been playing at a high level lately, and it will need to continue against Louisville

Notre Dame has played lights out defense in 2023, and the Irish face another tough test on Saturday night when they square off against Louisville. The Cardinals are still getting into the groove of theoffense, which has created some inconsistency. But when Louisville has been on they have been very dangerous, and they present the Notre Dame defense with a tough test.

Louisville rushed for at least 184 yards in each of its first four games, and the offense averaged 237.3 yards per game on the ground in those games and scored 43 points per game during that stretch. NC State held Louisville to just 20 rushing yards, and the offense scored just 13 points. In Louisville's two least effective passing games, which came against Georgia Tech and Indiana, quarterback Jack Plummer completed just 57.4-percent of his throws. Last season, Notre Dame squared off against Plummer when he was at Cal, and the veteran QB completed just 43.2-percent of this throws.
