Booking platform Airbnb announced Tuesday a new ban on guests trying to book rentals for a night for New Year's parties as part of its larger effort to crack down on disruptive parties.

"These proactive defenses will help to promote responsible travel and help to prevent rare instances of unwelcome behavior, and enable Hosts, guests and communities to enjoy their end of year celebrations with added reassurance," Naba Banerjee, Director of Trust Product and Operations at Airbnb, said in a statement. it was temporarily banning all parties and events, following complaints by neighborhoods of house parties advertised on social media and"chronic party houses.

" In the summer of 2022, Airbnb codified the ban as part of its policy and said it has an"ongoing commitment to fighting disruptive parties." Last year, the platform said it had a"successful trial" of tighter restrictions regarding New Year's Eve parties in eight countries. Airbnb said its new measures reduced incidents by about 56% since 2020.
