The festival will see 34 players — selected from over 200 applications — from 23 different minor hockey associations come to C.B.S. for three days of on- and off-ice activities.
While being able to point to the likes of NCAA stars Abby Newhook and Maggie Connors as positive examples of female hockey, she attributes much of that growth to the work of Hockey NL and its branches to show young female athletes that hockey can be a game for them. “I'm really happy that the younger generation is getting the exposure they deserve, and that Hockey Newfoundland is coming together to do that,” said Newhook.
