Not Here to Stay Says Uganda's Museveni But Mum on Succession Uganda
National Resistance Movement youth leaders from Buganda have endorsed President Museveni
as the sole presidential candidate for the 2026 elections. This comes at a time when another section of youth in the NRM is supporting his son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as their candidate in 2026. Museveni, who has been in power for 26 years, has not yet indicated that he will run for 2026, neither has his son., saying that he definitely does not expect to stay forever.
Museveni was handling a question on succession during a one-on-one interview with KTN, a Kenyan media house at State House Entebbe. The president said the leadership he envisions for Uganda post-Museveni era is one that will continue to be decided by the people who are fortunately increasing in number.following his"Kenya invasion" tweets in which he claimed that the Ugandan army would"take control of Kenya's capital Nairobi in less than two weeks".
