Northampton General Hospital is 'leading the way'
Northampton General Hospital has been praised for its round-the-clock restaurant for patients and visitors by campaigners and NHS bosses during a recent visit. One campaigner said the NHS Trust in Northampton was "leading the way for other NHS Trusts to follow.”
Neely and NHS Net Zero Food Programme Manager, Tim Radcliffe, were given a tour of Eat Street and the hospital’s kitchens and catering facilities last Thursday February 9. She said it showed how "passionate" the hospital is about the welfare of their staff.Neely's campaign, @NoHungryStaff, was launched in November 2021. Within a year guidance for 24/7 food for staff was included in the new National Standards for Hospital Food and Drink.
Mr Radcliffe added: “There is clearly a real desire at NGH to ensure that staff working outside of core hours have access to food and place where they can relax away from the hurly burly of the ward environment.” “At Kettering there is blank canvas to develop a new restaurant that is tailored to meet the needs of its users", Mr Radcliffe said. "It is really an exciting opportunity to do things differently.”
