But the president of the new club this year got a cease-and-desist order from the courts, demanding the NVCC stop using the NSCC name. That led to the B.C. Mainland Cricket Association ordering the two clubs to sort out the dispute before the original club’s five teams could play in the 2023 league.
“We have still suffered damage to our reputation,” he told Postmedia. “This was a direct hit to harm us.” The judge who granted the interim ruling that allowed the club’s teams to play this year did so after determining that the new club had no players, home ground or fields, said Jauhar.
