Breaking: NordStar, Postmedia terminate merger discussions
Toronto Star owner NordStar Capital and Postmedia have ended negotiations regarding a merger between Postmedia and key Torstar assets without agreeing to a partnership.
NordStar Capital owns the Toronto Star and Metroland Media, and Postmedia is the publisher of the National Post, Toronto Sun and other daily papers across the country.NordStar and Postmedia issued a press release and described a potential deal Moving forward, Bitove said, “Torstar remains focused on addressing the existential threats to journalism in Canada, which have been amplified in recent weeks with the announcements by Meta and Google that they intend to block access to Canadian news.”
