The Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the mortgage for the family of Washington Township Firefighter/Paramedic Charles Swank, who suffered a deadly cardiac event while training late last year.

Swank served for four years in Iraq and Afghanistan in the US Army's 82nd Airborne, where he earned a Bronze Star. He was survived by his wife, Alaina, and his five children.The foundation said he was attending a firefighting training in Pensacola, Florida, when he suffered a deadly cardiac event on Dec. 8, 2022.The Tunnel to Towers Foundation delivered 30 mortgage-free homes or mortgage payoffs to families ahead of Memorial Day, a release from the group said.
