Apparently, Kyrsten Sinema wasn’t getting the kind of attention she thinks she deserves, at home or in Washington, so she switched party affiliation from Democrat to Independent. Keeping yourself in the news every 72 hours sounds exhausting.

Raphael Warnock’s win in Georgia robbed some of Sinema and fellow contrarian Joe Manchin’s juice by giving Dems a little breathing room in the senate.

The explicitly coin operated senator from the great state of Arizona was likely to face a progressive primary in 2024, but running as an independent takes that possibility off the board. Winning as an independent is almost always an uphill battle, but if it doesn’t work out lobbyist/vintner isn’t a bad fall back.
