Three things you need to know about the Blue Jays’ 4-2 loss to the New York Yankees in the Bronx on Sunday:
The Jays had four different players in the eighth spot in the batting order in the seventh inning alone. John Schneider managed a step ahead ofWith runners at first and second and one out, Santiago Espinal was due up. But Cavan Biggio came in to pinch-hit against the right-handed Jonathan Loaisiga. The Yankees went to lefty Wandy Peralta, just what Schneider was waiting for.
Jackie Bradley Jr. followed with a walk to force in the tying run. With Springer moved to scoring position, Raimel Tapia came in to run for him. The Jays couldn’t extend the rally, however, as Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. grounded out.The Yankees pulled right back ahead in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-run home run by Andrew Benintendi off reliever Adam Cimber. It was the former Red Sox and Royals outfielder’s first big fly as a Yankee.
