Nottinghamshire Live readers have voted on the best place to live in the county - and the people living there are not surprised. and one leafy suburb came out as the clear winner.
Its busy high street has something for everyone, ranging from bars and restaurants to book stores and supermarkets, while the historic Trent Bridge Cricket, football grounds, and National Water Sports Centre make it ideal for sporty residents.Local residents were not surprised West Bridgford had been voted the best place to live. Chris Greaves, 72, who has lived in West Bridgford for 15 years, said: "It is a little enclave of middle class society and everyone is friendly and pleasant.
"There's quite a lot going on. The schools are good, the bus services are good, and there's no big crime really." "I travelled around the country and world but I ended up deciding to stay here. It was called 'Bread and Lard Island' years ago by people, but I think it is more that people here are driven and want to do well, they have aspirations."
