A fire broke out in a garage in a home on Rowe Street early Wednesday morning.

Prince George Fire Rescue crews were called to a structure fire in the 2400 block of Rowe Street, in University Heights, on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 6:49 a.m. and found smoke coming from the home’s garage. The occupants of the house were alerted by their smoke detector and were able to get out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the Prince George Fire Rescue Service reminds residents not to store items against heating appliances.
