Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter says 'at this stage' the outlook for the weekend is 'good' and no load-shedding is anticipated.

Speaking at a Friday morning briefing, De Ruyter said while the load forecast for Saturday was a bit more than generation capacity, there was enough diesel generating capacity to make up for that using open-cycle gas turbines. De Ruyter said though the weekend ahead appeared likely to be free of load-shedding, the public would be informed quickly if anything changed. In the meantime, consumers were encouraged to continue using electricity as sparingly as possible.
He said power station managers were working with their teams to bring back online facilities that were down.
