ANC deputy chair in Limpopo, Florence Radzilani is accused of getting R300,000 channelled towards her for investing in the now-defunct VBS Mutal Bank during her tenure as Vhembe mayor.
JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress in Limpopo says there's still no basis to pursue the step-aside clause against its deputy chairperson Florence Radzilani.
Radzilani is accused of getting R300,000 channelled towards her for investing in the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank during her tenure as Vhembe mayor. According to a leaked affidavit by the group's now-disgraced former chair Tshifhiwa Matodzi, Radzilani wanted to receive"Christmas", amounting to at least R1.5 million.Radzilani has since been appointed to serve in the Limpopo government, with the ANC arguing no charges have been brought against her.
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority has condemned the leaking of Matodzi's affidavit and said it was investigating the matter. Matodzi was sentenced to 15 years behind bars this week for his role in the looting of the mutual bank.
