Theodore blanks St. Paul's 28-0 to improve to 13-0, setting up a 6A rematch against Saraland. alpreps
Nov. 18, 2022, 11:59 p.m.Theodore’s star running back was held out of Friday night’s Class 6A quarterfinal matchup against upstart St. Paul’s because of a few bumps and bruises, but it didn’t matter as Will James, normally a cornerback, was called upon to help with the Bobcats’ running game.James had only five carries but rushed for 151 yards and scored on runs of 67, 13, and 62 yards, and Theodore’s defense did the rest as the No. 1 Bobcats blanked the Saints 28-0 at C.A.
James’s first touchdown run of 67 yards — which was his first time touching the ball on offense — came early in the first quarter and basically set the tone for the rest of the game. James next score, a 13-yard run in the second quarter, along with a 51-yard touchdown pass from Cam Rigby to Kam Johnson with 2:47 left in the half, gave the Bobcats a 21-0 lead at intermission. His 62-yard run off right tackle midway through the third quarter virtually put the game on ice for Theodore, as the Bobcat defense virtually shut the Saints down and kept them from mounting any kind of offensive threat.
