Newfoundland and Labrador Housing is offering information to anyone in need of emergency shelter, especially during stormy or extremely cold weather.Newfoundland and Labrador Housing is encouraging those in need of emergency shelter to contact their 24-hour Emergency Housing Line at 1-833-724-2444 where staff will direct them to available resources.
In the meantime a number of community organizations are available in the capital city, including The Gathering Place, provide supports to people who find themselves without shelter.The City of St. John’s Emergency Management Plan has a contingency for activation of warming/comfort centres should an incident or event take place that affects a large portion of the population.
NLHC has also been working with the City, End Homelessness St. John’s and a number of community partners to develop any other required responses in cases of extreme weather events. This has included securing additional shelter capacity heading into this weekend.
