Though widely described by political pundits as the winner of the debate, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy falls short as a candidate equipped to tackle national security threats as revealed in the debate. “I find it offensive that we have professional politicians who will make a pilgrimage to Kyiv, to their pope, [President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy [of Ukraine], without doing the same for the people in Maui or the south side of Chicago,” he said.
Engaging with foreign leaders doesn’t belittle domestic concerns; it enhances a nation’s capacity to solve those concerns by building partnerships, fostering trade relationships, and mitigating security threats. A president who overlooks global dynamics in favor of focusing solely on domestic matters could inadvertently undermine national interests in an interconnected world.
