Don't Blame Buhari's Govt for Not Rescuing All Chibok Girls - Presidency vanguardngrnews: Nigeria
The Presidency said yesterday that President Muhammadu Buhari's administration has subdued insurgency in the country.
Recall that the Boko Haram insurgency, which has claimed thousands of lives, began in 2009 in Borno State. "Can you say the insurgency is still what it was before 2015 when they killed people in thousands and seized control of many local governments in Borno State?" Adesina queried. "Remember that in 2014 alone, over 7,000 persons were lost to insurgency, whereas in 2022, a little over 2,000 died from Boko Haram attacks. Don't get me wrong, to lose just one soul is already bad enough.

South African Govt Affirms Commitment to Hague After 'Error'The Presidency has confirmed that South Africa remains a signatory of the Rome Statute following an error when a comment made by President Cyril Ramaphosa who said the "governing party" decided to withdraw implied that the African National Congress made the decision at its recent National Executive Committee meeting, that the nation would no longer be a member of the International Criminal Court. The error resulted in an uproar and comes several days after after Nobel Prize-winning Ukrainian Oleksandra Romantsova, who heads Ukraine's Center for Civil Liberties, called on the government to re-think its friendly relations with Russia as it wages war on Kyiv. While South Africa's dual commitment to both the ICC and Russia has become a diplomatic headache for the nation, it maintains its support for President Vladimir Putin, who has been invited to attend the BRICS Summit in South Africa in August 2023.
