Friends and family of missing Nicola Bulley have left yellow ribbons, flowers and messages of hope along the River Wyre
Here is the statement issued by Nicola Bulley's family this lunchtime in full:
The headaches caused Nikki to stop taking the HRT thinking that may have helped her but only ended up causing this crisis. "The public focus has to be on finding her and not making up wild theories about her personal life. Speaking to broadcasters, Mr Jenrick said: “These are unusual comments but we’re not privy to the police’s conversations with Nicola Bulley’s family and I don’t think it would be right for us to speculate on why they’ve chosen to make those comments.
In a statement, a spokesman for the IOPC said: “Following information that was made public by Lancashire Constabulary yesterday, we have made contact with the force to determine if a referral to the IOPC may be required.”The statement adds: "The police know the truth about Nikki and now the public need to focus on finding her.
The family of missing mother Nicola Bulley have said they “believe that the public focus has become distracted from finding Nikki, and more about speculation and rumours into her private life”, in a statement issued through Lancashire Police. He told GBNews: "Whoever has made these decisions needs to answer lots of questions. Let’s not knock the police, let’s not knock the family. Let’s regroup together and then redo this search again so we can get some closure for this poor family"Zoë Billingham, the chairwoman of an NHS mental health trust, told BBC News said the update by police was 'quite disturbing on so many fronts.
Peter Faulding has revealed his approach would have differed if the police had told him that Nicola had issues with alcohol related to her difficulties coping with the menopause. Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith, the lead investigator for Lancashire Police in the case, told reporters at a packed press conference at force HQ: “As soon as she was reported missing, following the information that was provided to the police by her partner Paul, and based on a number of specific vulnerabilities that we were made aware of, Nicola was graded as high-risk.
At that stage police would not be drawn further on the exact nature of Ms Bulley’s “individual vulnerabilities”.Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper stopped short of criticising the police decision but admitted she had concerns about the release of such details, calling it “very unusual”.“I would want to speak directly to Lancashire Police about their reasons for doing so before commenting further, because I know there can be complicated reasons for police decisions.
