It's safe to say that autumn is well and truly here, as the nights become darker and temperatures start to dip further.

While Sunday got off to a bright but chilly start for many across Northern Ireland, it was a very different picture by the end of the day with the arrival of some wet and windy weather.High pressure will be in charge for the start of the new week, keeping those weather systems at bay. However more showery conditions at times are expected by the end of this week.

UK long range weather forecast: Thursday Oct 20 - Saturday Oct 29 The start of the period is likely to be characterised by a series of bands of rain, some of these heavy, spreading northeastwards through the country. The heaviest rain and strongest winds are likely to be focused in western areas to begin with, whilst the northeast is expected to remain dry.
