'The first 4 days were the scariest, but the damage lasted nearly a year and without being able to breathe'
A Co Antrim mother who "had to start from scratch" after Covid left her unable to perform has been selected to perform at a prestigious international concert.
"I completed my BMus at Queen's University of Belfast, then moved to England for my postgraduate training at the Royal Northern College of Music. After that, I trained in London as an English National Opera 'Opera Works' Artist." "Covid was awful. The lower lobes of my lungs felt stuck together," she said. "I couldn't get a decent breath - I monitored my oxygen levels to avoid hospital admission or intubation unless really necessary.
Having to provide for her son, Sarah headed back to work after two months but it was clear she still wasn't physically capable of working. "I had to start from scratch with breathing exercises and lung training. Covid knocked my confidence because I wasn't capable of the things that I was in the past.
She continued: "I am so proud of where I'm from. I tell everyone about the North East coast - I've performed across the United Kingdom and Ireland and have happy memories from all over.
