Purdy’s coming-out party far overshadowed Brady’s homecoming in Santa Clara.
Purdy looked poised, wholly sure of himself and crisp in his decision-making. Detroit quarterback Jared Goff is a big star of this unlikely show. He’s going a long way toward convincing the world the Lions maybe should not parlay high picks come next April, to draft the next young QB saviour on whom the club can peg its future hopes — because maybe, just maybe, the QB of the future already is on the roster. Don’t snicker, but the Lions potentially could find themselves in playoff position as early as Christmas. Crazy, right? The Giants are dissolving on both sides of the ball as thoroughly as the Seahawks’ defence. If both teams can’t stop their slides, the Lions probably won’t even have to win out to earn a playoff berth.Article content
But four conservative rushes by the Texans netted two yards, and Dallas avoided falling behind by two scores with 3:20 left.
