Members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins might have a tough decision to make.
Will they really continue their annual tradition of popping champagne after the last remaining undefeated team loses if the last remaining undefeated team this season is the Dolphins? Only three perfect records are intact — and neither of the other teams look as dominating or seem to be having as much fun as Miami.
The Dolphins scored five rushing touchdowns and five passing touchdowns in Week 3 on the way to the NFL’s highest single-game point total since 1966 and nearly set an NFL record with 726 yards of offense in a 70-20 victory against the Broncos. So, can the Dolphins break the 2013 Broncos’ record for most points scored in the season? Do they need a cool nickname like “The Greatest Show on Turf” for the 1999 Rams?When not drawing up no-look shovel passes, head coach Mike McDaniel is deciding whether or not to kick a field goal to set an NFL record with.
