Kraken Robotics Inc. has penned a $1.3-million deal to use its AquaPix synthetic aperture sonars on a NATO navy’s autonomous underwater vehicles. File - ContributedMOUNT PEARL, N.L. — Newfoundland's Kraken Robotics has inked a $1.3-million deal with an unnamed customer to use its AquaPix synthetic aperture sonars on a NATO navy’s autonomous underwater vehicles.
The Mount Pearl-based technology and robotics firm said the sonars will be used for minehunting and security applications. Delivery is expected this year. Karken's AquaPix is a sonar system that can expand the capabilities of naval, scientific and commercial applications by offering increased range and resolution at a low cost, the company said.
The system has been integrated and deployed in over 20 different underwater vehicle platforms from shallow water to full ocean depth.
