Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern joined religious leaders in Christchurch following last week’s massacre at two mosques.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern gathered with local religious officials and hundreds of worshippers at Christchurch’s Hagley Park shortly after noon. Last week, a gunman opened fire at the Al Noor mosque just steps away from where people gathered Friday to honor their fallen citizens.
Gamal Fouda, the imam of the Al Noor mosque, spoke after the call to prayer was completed, saying a terrorist had sought “to tear our nation apart with an evil ideology.” Aarrested after the attack allegedly shared a 74-page manifesto before it took place that included well-known white supremacist tropes and ideology.
