New York’s MTA has enlisted dozens of police officers and volunteers to help homeless people seeking shelter in the subway system
On a recent night, the chief safety officer for New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority stood on a subway platform at a station in Manhattan’s Upper East Side while a team of transit officers and volunteers tried to coax homeless people into shelters.
