Students aged 5 to 12 years old will receive a backpack and school supplies at the special event at 5 p.m. Sept. 3 at Middle School 7.

The event is organized by the non-profit Community 1st, in collaboration with Reddick, Athletes Making Progress Together and a coalition of local leaders — Councilman Yousef J. Saleh, state Sen. Raj Mukherji, Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez, Hudson County Board Commissioner member Yraida Aponte-Lipski and Board of Commissioner President Anthony Romano.
Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowl player, was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Jets earlier this year. Unhappy with his current contract, Reddick has held out and not played a down this entire preseason.Organizers are encouraging families to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure their children are well-prepared for the new school year.
