British passports will be issued by King Charles for the first time
UK holidaymakers have been warned of a new passport change that will come into effect this week for the first time in over 70 years.
It has been described as a "new era in history" by Home Secretary Suella Braverman. The Home Secretary added: "For 70 years, Her Majesty has appeared on British passports and many of us will not remember a time when she did not feature. When he was the Prince of Wales, he did in fact need a passport - but as he is now the king and sovereign, he no longer needs one - as they are issued in his name.
The new message will read: "His Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State requests and requires in the name of His Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance, and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary." It is important to note that if you have a passport bearing the Queen's title and message, it will still remain valid for overseas journeys, until the passport is deemed to expire.
